Police have obtained restraining orders on assets worth about $6 million owned by a senior member of the Head Hunters gang.

Detective Superintendent Iain Chapman said officers today searched property belonging to the unnamed 62-year-old beneficiary in an investigation known as Operation Coin.

Police obtained the High Court restraining orders last week.

Mr Chapman - who heads the Police Financial Crime Group - said the authorities were committed to making sure criminals could not make money at the expense of the safety of the community.

The investigation involved the Serious Fraud Office, Customs, the Social Development Ministry and Inland Revenue.
