The proceedings come after a Serious Fraud Office prosecution of people associated with Auckland Transport.

Police said the recovery action related to the assets of an unnamed 53-year-old man and his wife, and included properties in Mount Eden and the Coromandel, bank accounts and cars.

Stephen Borlase, director of engineering firm Projenz, was sentenced to five years and six months in prison in February for corruption and bribery over roading contracts.

Former Rodney District Council and Auckland Transport senior manager Murray Noone was sentenced to five years' jail for accepting the bribes.
