Police say four young people in a stolen ute had to be stopped with road spikes in Christchurch early this morning after a car chase that led to three police cars being damaged.
They said they tried to pull the ute over about 2am because it was being driven dangerously on Linwood Avenue and had been reported stolen.
A 16-year-old youth appeared in the Christchurch District Court this morning on driving and drugs charges.
Three others have been referred to Youth Aid.
