A woman who defrauded the Ministry of Transport of more than $700,000 has been denied parole.

Joanne Harrison was sentenced to three years and seven months in jail in February, after the Serious Fraud Office brought charges against her.
Harrison was fired from her job at the ministry in July last year after management found financial discrepancies linked to her and fake invoices she had created over three years.
The Parole Board declined Harrison parole this morning as it considers her an undue risk to the community.
The board will consider Ms Harrison for parole again in March next year.
A ministry report released to RNZ earlier this week revealed Harrison had a business partner who shredded fake invoices for her, but was never charged.
