A robber tied an elderly woman to a chair in her Palmerston North home this morning before stealing her bankcard and her car.
Police said a man entered the woman's house on Church Street about 9am and threatened her.
Detective Sergeant Dave Wishnowksy said she was tied up before the man left in her red Toyota Corolla.
He said she was very shaken but unhurt.
The man was wearing a dark silky zipped jacket and dark pants.
The police said it was likely the man had driven around Palmerston North following the robbery. They're asking anyone who saw the stolen Toyota Corolla with registration EWG803, or anything suspicious in the area, to get in touch.
