Arrest warrant issued for Morrocco Tai's brother

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Quade Tai who failed to return to prison after his brother's funeral.

Morrocco Tai, 15, died last week when a stolen car he was driving crashed into a tree during a police chase.

His funeral was held on Friday and his brother, a remand prisoner, was temporarily released so he could attend but failed to return to Mt Eden jail.

"Police are looking for 20-year-old Quade Tai who has a warrant for his arrest for assaulting police and burglary," Counties Manukau police said in a statement.

"He is known to the Otara, Glen Innes and Point England areas, but could be anywhere in greater Auckland.Police said he was known to the Otara, Glen Innes and Point England areas, but could be anywhere in greater Auckland."
