Church returns some money to disabled man

5:00 pm on 23 June 2010

A Napier church that took thousands of dollars from a disabled man has returned some of his money.

The Oasis Elim Church accepted donations from Whetu Abraham for several years. Following a complaint by a worker at the rest home where Mr Abraham lives, who said Mr Abraham had given all his money to the church, the church says it has taken action on the matter.

The national leader of the Elim Church of New Zealand, Luke Brough, says the Napier branch has written a cheque to Mr Abraham for donations it can identify over the past two years.

Mr Brough could not say how much money has been given back.
