An report due to be released today into former chief executive Nigel Murray at Waikato DHB is a draft and needs more work before being published, the DHB says.

Dr Murray spent $218,000 in three years at the DHB on travel and expenses before resigning in early October.

The DHB had planned to release an Audit New Zealand review into his expenses today.

However, it said the report was a draft only and clarification of some points and a final version were needed before it would decide whether to release the information and when.

It came after Waikato Hospital executive director Brett Paradine tendered his resignation yesterday while on leave.

The DHB said the latest departure was not connected to Dr Murray's resignation, and that was confirmed by Mr Paradine.

The DHB confirmed the departure this morning but no reason was given.

Mr Paradine had worked for the DHB for 14 years, including as general manager of planning and funding and acting chief operating officer.
