Thousands of riders are taking part in the 41st annual Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge today.

The challenge features a number of events and include a 160km race around the lake that gets underway in stages from 7am.
The mens' event will include ex-rowing champion-turned cyclist Hamish Bond.
The womens' classic race covers 100km.
Organisers said the overall event has attracted around 6000 riders from New Zealand and from 20 other countries.
The event was founded in 1977 and has since raised over $3 million for community groups and $700,000 for its official charity, Heart for Kids.
The not-for-profit event is estimated to inject $7m into the Taupō economy.
The challenge is designed for participants of all cycling abilities.
