Warning on overpriced World Cup accommodation

12:24 pm on 5 July 2010

Rugby World Cup chief executive Martin Snedden is warning people in Auckland intending to rent their homes for luxury prices during the Cup, not to be unrealistic.

A number of websites are advertising houses for rent during the event, with some in Auckland carrying a price tag of $20,000 per week.

Mr Snedden believes there is a market for high-end accommodation.

But, he says, some people are asking for far more than their property is worth.

He says any overpriced accommodation will be weeded out from the market.
