A man was killed while walking away from a road crash in Canterbury late last night.

Police said a car had gone into a ditch and rolled on Leeston Road, Springston, near Goulds Road about 11.30pm.
They said the two people in the car were able to get out and were walking to safety when one was fatally struck by a vehicle coming along the road. He died at the scene.
The Police Serious Crash Unit is now investigating.
