2:53 pm on 14 January 2018

Fire crews in the upper North Island are being kept busy with several fires.

In Auckland, two fire trucks are at the scene of a rubbish fire on James Mackie Road south of Helensville.

And crews have managed to contain another fire which was burning in a pine plantation in the Waitakere Ranges.

That fire burned through around 70 metres by 50 metres of trees earlier today.

Around 30 firefighters are also still at the scene of a blaze on Awaroa Road in Titoki near Whangārei which has been burning since Thursday.

Crews are also mopping up a fire in Helensville, north-west of central Auckland.

That blaze broke out after midday yesterday behind Rautawhairi hill.

At its peak a helicopter and 18 fire appliances battled the fire.
