10:09 pm on 14 July 2010

Wellington is to host a parade next Wednesday for members of the All Whites world cup squad.

The team was undefeated at the just-completed tournament in South Africa, but missed out on reaching the second round.

It was only the second -ever appearance by New Zealand at the World Cup and its best ever performance.

While some team members won't be available for the parade on 21 July, there will be players based with Wellington's Phoenix club, along with out-of-towners Ivan Vicelich, Aaron Clapham and Simon Elliott.

The parade is two days before the Phoenix play the Argentinian club Boca Juniors in a friendly

and players from both clubs will also join in.

The parade will leave Parliament at 12.30pm on 21 July and travel along Lambton Quay, Willis Street and Mercer Street for a gathering in the city's civic square.
