A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman in Tauranga.
Police were called to a marae at 11.50pm where a 37-year-old woman had suffered neck injuries.
She was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died soon after.
The accused will appear in the Tauranga District Court this morning.
