At least five people have been injured - including three children - in a crash near Pukehina in the western Bay of Plenty.
Police say a vehicle carrying six people left State Highway 2 near Otamarakau Marae at 12.20pm.
An adult and a child are in a serious condition and three other children are also injured. The age of the sixth person is not known, nor whether the person has been injured.
A rescue helicopter has takeng the injured people to hospital.
A section of State Highway 2 near the crash scene was closed but was reopened on Saturday afternoon.
