ANZ Bank says home owners will have to bear nearly threequarters of the cost of fixing leaky homes.
ANZ estimates 23,500 houses qualify for a package announced in May, in which the Government and councils pay for a quarter of the costs each, with home owners paying the other 50% of the bill.
PricewaterhouseCoopers estimates that the number of leaky homes could be as high as 89,000.
