Police hunting a gang member described as extremely dangerous are following up a number of reported sightings.
They say Colin Kiriona, 25, is a frequent methamphetamine user, and is armed. He has a bulldog tattoo on his left cheek.
He is accused of assaulting his 31-year-old estranged partner over a 48-hour period last week in Hamilton.
Police have carried out armed searches but have failed to find him. There have been sightings as far afield as Christchurch.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton says police are applying pressure on gang associates, and anyone harbouring Mr Kiriona will face prosecution.
