A woman in her 20s, from Queenstown, is the latest person to be confirmed as having measles, bringing the total number of people infected in the South Island, to six.

This person travelled while infectious.

The two flights she was on are:

  • Air NZ Flight NZ 5642 from Queenstown to Christchurch departing at 8.20am on Saturday 7 April 2018
  • Air NZ Flight NZ 5653 from Christchurch to Queenstown departing at 3.00pm on Monday 9 April 2018

The Canterbury DHB said anyone who travelled on these flights should check their status with their GP.

They are asking people not to turn up at a hospital emergency department, as this risks infecting more people.

Cases have now been confirmed in Queenstown, Wanaka, Canterbury and Nelson-Marlborough.
