Whanganui police are investigating how a critically injured man came to be lying in a street in the early hours of this morning.

The man was found unconscious in Tinirau St, Whanganui East, at 3am.
He was taken to Wellington Hospital, where he's being treated for critical injuries.
Investigators want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything out of the ordinary in the area.
