Two Air New Zealand planes have been removed from service to undergo urgent repairs.
Thousands of passengers had their flights delayed or cancelled this week as checks were done globally on a specific Rolls-Royce engine type.
Air New Zealand has supplied a video from Rolls-Royce which explains the problem and how it is being addressed.
The airline said it had now completed the engine checks and as a result two 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will be temporarily removed while maintenance work is done at the Rolls-Royce facility in Singapore.
It said with high demand at the facility it may take months for the repair work to be done.
Air New Zealand said it would need to continue to make changes to flights with customers possibly facing disruption for the coming months as the schedules are adjusted.
It is also looking at various charter options including re-introducing services from European carrier Hi Fly.
