Police have named Nicky Tuxford as the victim of the attack earlier this month.

A 54-year-old man has been charged with her murder and aggravated robbery and has appeared in the Christchurch High Court.

Ms Tuxford was found dead in her Exeter Street home around at about 11.40am on 7 April.

In a statement released today, Ms Tuxford's family said they had been broken by their tragic loss.

They said she was an accounts manager for an international logistics company based in Christchurch.

"She was highly thought of and considered to have a bright future with the company."

Originally from Dunedin, Ms Tuxford moved to Christchurch after high school.

"Nicky was a funny, bubbly character who lit up a room with her personality and made other people laugh," her family said. "She loved people and had ambitions to work as a counsellor so she could help others."
