Two arrests after fatal brawl

Police investigating the death of a man in a street fight in south Auckland have arrested two men.

Police say the 21-year-old was hit by a car after a brawl spilled onto Gifford Rd in Papatoetoe at about 1.30am on Sunday. He died at the scene.

A 16-year-old and a 24-year-old have been arrested and charged with assault.

Police say more than 40 party goers were at the scene but officers have only been able to speak with eight of them.

Police are urging anyone who was at the party or witnessed the events to make contact with them.

The two young men arrested will appear in the Manukau Youth Court on Monday morning.
