Warriors hopes of league playoffs slip again

6:10 pm on 1 August 2010

The Warriors hopes of reaching the National Rugby League playoffs have slipped further after the Gold Coast Titans beat them 28-20 in Auckland.

Their second loss in a row has put the Warriors back into the pack of teams fighting it out for a finals berth.

They led 12-nil midway through the first half with tries to the skipper Simon Mannering and Lance Hohaia but the Titans levelled with two tries from Steve Michaels.

A Manu Vatuvei try regained the lead early in the second spell but then the Warriors conceded three - with Matt Rogers bagging a brace for the Titans.

A late try to Brett Seymour raised hopes briefly but Mannering says they lost because they stopped going up the middle, went a bit sideways instead and turned over possession.
