Qantas flight makes emergency landing at Auckland Airport

The fire service says the source of cabin smoke that forced a Qantas flight to make an emergency landing just minutes into take off was food left in an oven.

Fifteen fire trucks were called to Auckland International Airport shortly after 1.30pm after smoke was spotted in the boeing 737 enroute to Sydney.

A fireservice spokesperson said crews have now been stood down.

It was found the source of the smoke was food burnt in an oven onboard.

An Airport spokesperson said Qantas flight QFA144 safely landed.
