Tightening job market forces young bankers home

The tightening job market for bankers and financiers is forcing young New Zealand and Australian expatriates back home from New York and London.

Multinational recruitment firm Michael Page says it had a 27% increase in the number of inquiries from people wanting to return to Australia and New Zealand in August, compared with the same month last year.

However, the firm's managing director, Phillip Guest, told Morning Report it may be difficult for the applicants to expect the same salaries.

Mr Guest said the company is also seeing much interest in locations including Singapore and Hong Kong.
