Family to escort woman's body home to China

The family of a woman who was killed in a jetboat capsize near Queenstown last week will escort her body back to China in the next few days.

Yan Wang died after a jet boat flipped on a sandbar at the confluenece of the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers.

On Thursday night, her family and some members of the Chinese tour group who remained in Queenstown met the directors and staff from Kawarau Jet. The driver of the jetboat was also at the meeting.

Kawarau Jet company director Andrew Brinsley offered his condolences to the family and the tour group.

Inquiries by Maritime New Zealand, police and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission inquires into the incident will continue.
