DHB head meets Minister over fraud case

1:28 pm on 21 January 2009

The head of the Otago District Health Board met Health Minister Tony Ryall on Wednesday to explain the background to a fraud case involving a former manager.

The meeting has led to talk that board chairman Richard Thomson may be replaced, but a spokesperson for the Minister's office says that's not the case.

Former DHB IT manager Mike Swann and Queenstown surveyor Kerry Harford were convicted last year of defrauding the board of $16.9 million between 2000 and 2006.

They will be sentenced in March.

Mr Ryall has said he is anxious for public confidence to be restored in the board.
