A Hamilton taxi was robbed at gunpoint early on Tuesday morning.
Police say the taxi was called to a Ross Crescent address shortly after 1am and told to wait.
A short time later two men appeared pointing a pistol at the driver and demanding money and his cell phone.
The robbers then told the driver to go, and he raised the alarm.
A second taxi firm has told police that one of its drivers had been called to the same address about ten minutes earlier but became suspicious and drove off after seeing someone lingering in nearby bushes.
