Liquor outlet agreement to combat drunken disorder

Christchurch police aim to crack down on drunken disorder in the suburb of Riccarton by banning offenders from numerous alcohol outlets.

Canterbury District Police Commander Dave Cliff said a Community Behaviour Accord was being signed on Monday by seven bars and liquor retailers.

Mr Cliff said anyone behaving inappropriately at one of of the establishments will be banned from all of them for four weeks.

He said locals in the area are sick of alcohol-fuelled vandalism.

Bar staff in the area are hopeful the accord will limit drunken behaviour and improve things for other customers who just want to enjoy themselves.
