Police in Counties Manukau stopped 130 drivers with excess breath alcohol on Friday and Saturday nights.
Some 18,000 vehicles were stopped, with one in every 138 drivers found to be over the legal limit.
Previous drink drive operations in the area identified 1 in 50 drivers over the legal limit.
Senior Sergeant Mike Stopforth, says the drink driving message is still not getting through.
Fourteen arrests were made, 36 drivers had their licenses suspended and 21 vehicles were imponded.
