Otaki Maori Racing Club has honoured a legendary family of Maori jockeys by dedicating last weekend's raceday to the Harris whanau.
One of New Zealand's best known jockeys, Noel Harris, says the meeting paid particular tribute to his father, Jock Harris, who was also a famous jockey in his day.
He says it was a great honour.
Waatea News reports Noel Harris recently become one of only five jockeys in New Zealand to win 2000 races.
