Police say they are close to breaking a burglary operation in the southern suburbs of Christchurch.
The number of burglaries in the Opawa and Cashmere areas has doubled since December.
Senior Sergeant Stephen Kelly says the quick thinking of a woman who managed to get a picture of two burglars as they left her home led to two arrests being made.
At least three groups of burglars are believed to be in the area.
