Police in Auckland are searching for a man after he fled the custody of his lawyer.
Di Wu, also known as Elvis, was due to stand trial in the High Court on 16 February on serious drug charges.
Police say Mr Wu, 25, breached his bail conditions on 8 February and was remanded in custody.
As a condition of his detention, he was allowed daily unsupervised visits to his lawyers.
Police say it was during one of those visits that he fled, but information about his escape was suppressed during a High Court trial faced by his co-accused.
Chen Wei Huang, 25, was convicted on Thursday on six counts of supplying methamphetamine with a street value of more than $2 million.
