Police are reiterating warnings on the dangers of internet dating.
A man, 41, appears in Hamilton District Court on Monday on charged in relation to a sexual assault of a woman in her home early on Saturday.
Police say the accused met the complainant via the internet last November and had been in subsequent contact by phone, text and email.
They planned to meet in person last Friday.
Police say the encounter did not occur, but the man later went to the woman's home where an assault reportedly took place.
Police say they issued warnings about internet dating last year. They say people should let someone know where they are going and who they are meeting.
