More than 200 motorbike enthusiasts were descending on Levin, north of Wellington, for the 21st National Vintage Motorcycle Rally.
The event was to start on Saturday morning, with more than 150 bikes leaving from the Horowhenua Vintage Car Club at the Levin Showgrounds about 10am.
The motorcycles were to tour around the Horowhenua and Manawatu areas before returning to the showgrounds to go on display.
There will also be a more extensive North Island tour, with the rally finishing in Levin next Saturday.
Event spokesperson Graeme McKenzie says the oldest motorbike to take part is a 1911 Phelon and Moore.
