Two firefighters have been injured battling a blaze in the Auckland suburb of Newmarket.

The Fire Service says one firefighter received an electric shock while attending the blaze at a two-storey restaurant and bar on the corner of Broadway Avenue and Khyber Pass Road. He was treated at the scene.

Another firefighter received a cut to a hand and was taken to hospital.

Fire Service shift manager Jarron Phillips says both injuries are understood to be minor.
