Quiet Good Friday for police

7:43 am on 11 April 2009

Police around New Zealand had a quiet start to the weekend with one officer in Wellington saying Friday night was the quietest in his career.

Inspector Ken Climo attributes the lack of trouble largely to the fact that the pubs were shut on Good Friday.

He says pub closures have an enormous impact on the police workload and the night was the most trouble-free in his 27 year career.
