A dozen call centre employees in Auckland held an early-morning protest at their employer's home over pay negotiations.
About 12 members of the Unite Union picketed the home of Ian Mills at 6am on Monday, who is a director of the market research company Synovate. The protesters say they have been locked out of the call centre and are demanding an improved pay offer.
The union says it was necessary to remind the company it is unacceptable to lock people out until they agree to a "sub-standard" pay deal.
Mr Mills would not comment publicly on the matter, but said his family was traumatised.
The union says its members will continue to picket company directors.
