Two teenagers and a 39-year-old pedestrian died in road crashes in the South Island on Tuesday evening.
A 15-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man died when the car they were travelling in struck another vehicle near Wyndham in Southland.
Two other people were seriously injured in the crash.
A pedestrian, Barry John McIntyre, 39, died after he was struck by a campervan in Hari Hari, near Hokitika on the West Coast.
