A community centre has been destroyed in a suspicious fire at a township in Northland.
The Fire Service says the Bream Bay Community Support Centre in Ruakaka was well ablaze when it arrived.
Five fire appliances and more than 20 firefighters were needed to put out the flames which enveloped two buildings. A third building on the property was saved.
Fire safety is trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
Police are also investigating.
