Council looks to improve fuel deliveries to fishing vessels

The Hawke's Bay Regional Council is to look at ways of improving fuel deliveries to fishing vessels, following a big diesel spill at West Quay.

Between 50 and 70 litres of diesel spilled from a faulty supply hose when it burst while a fishing vessel was being refuelled on Thursday.

The council says its pollution response team was able to contain and clean up the bulk of the spill, with minimal impact on the environment.
