A man who allegedly produced a gun at Tauranga Hospital is to appear in court on firearms charges.
Police say the man was alone with a doctor in an office when he suddenly pulled out the .22 weapon on Monday.
The 36-year-old made the appointment to see a doctor earlier in the day.
Police say hospital staff reported there was a person with a hand gun in an office with a doctor about 3.30pm.
The doctor was able to leave the room and the building was evacuated.
Police say the man gave himself up just before 5pm and is in custody.
He will appear in Tauranga District Court on Tuesday.
