Police are calling for witnesses after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on the banks of Christchurch's Avon River early on Sunday.
Police say the woman, 20, was attacked beside the river at Oxford Terrace, between Madras and Armagh streets, about 1.30am.
The woman told police she had changed her route home to avoid a group of males in the area when she was assaulted.
Members of the public with information should contact Christchurch police.
