A major building materials manufacturer and distributor is planning to close its factory.
Fletcher Building at Kumeu, near Auckland, produces particleboard for the domestic market.
However, its returns have deteriorated due to a drop in demand and over-capacity in the industry.
The company says consultation has started with the 41 employees who will be affected by the closure, but production will continue at its Taupo plant.
