Rock throwers damage dozens of Dunedin cars

6:40 pm on 6 June 2009

An early morning rock-throwing spree has left dozens of cars with broken windows across an area of Dunedin.

The police say rocks were thrown through the front and back windows of 27 cars between the suburbs of St Clair and Tomahawk between 3am and 4am on Saturday.

With the cases spread across a number of kilometres the police believe the rocks were thrown from a moving vehicle, but they say they have not found any witnesses yet.

They estimate the cost of the damage at $15,000.
