Debt dominates submissions to Queenstown council

Queenstown Lake District Council's debt is set to rise to almost $500 million in the next decade - prompting thousands of submissions on a draft 10-year plan.

Financial affordability dominated the submissions.

Last month, Auditor-General Kevin Brady warned that the council's future spending is "not financially prudent".

Councillors held public hearings in Wanka on Monday and at Queenstown on Tuesday. They will vote on the final plan at the end of the month.
