Surface flooding in Whangarei is continues to spread, making some roads unsafe for driving.
Whangarei District Council says that persistent rainfall over in last 12 hours and the incoming tide have caused surface flooding in several areas.
Kaikanui road near Pigs Head road is closed.
The council also recommends drivers avoid Ngunguru Rd outside Glenbervie School, Jubilee road, Otonga road, and Punaruku road, also known as Russell road.
There is also surface flooding at the Kara road and Kokopu road intersection, McBreen road, Whananaki North road near Richard road, and Pigs Head road at the Kaikanui intersection.
