Auckland region district health boards say they are satisfied with the progress being made by the company that is poised to conduct all community diagnostic testing in the region.

Lab Tests is to take over the contract from Diagnostic Medlab Limited in early September.

The transition is being monitored closely by the DHBs.

The boards' spokesperson for the project Tim Wood says Lab Tests is hiring the staff it needs and appears well on track to secure the workforce in time for the September start date.

He says Lab Tests will have a total of 56 collection centres and will announce their locations in the next few weeks.
