A new trial due to start in the High Court in Napier on Wednesday for a former factory worker charged with murder has been adjourned.
Zion King, 47, is accused of fatally stabbing Chattrice Maihi-Carroll, 46, in her suburban flat in January last year.
A mis-trial was declared on Tuesday after opening statements by the Crown and defence.
After several hours in chambers following the statements, Justice Clifford dismissed the jury and said a new one would be empanelled on Wednesday.
The judge held further discussions with the Crown and defence on Wednesday morning before saying he has decided the evidence to be presented will take longer than the fortnight the trial is scheduled to run.
A new date for the trial will be set at the end of June.
