Two teenage girls have been killed in a car crash in Whangarei.
Police say the vehicle went out of control in the Morningside area about 1.30am on Friday, going down a steep bank and ending up on the lawn of a property on Anzac Rd.
Five teenage girls were in the car, and the two who died in the crash were passengers in the back seat.
The other occupants of the car have minor injuries.
Police say alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
